Terms of Service

Updated 02/23/2026

These Terms govern use of the Moon Umlaut website and the purchase or use of podcast concept development, recording support, audio editing, episode production, transcription, show-note, copywriting, publishing-support, and related editorial services.

These Terms describe general website and service rules. A specific project may also have its own written scope, invoice, or delivery terms.

1. Website Use

The website provides information about Moon Umlaut services, pricing, working methods, and project inquiries. Visitors may use the site for lawful informational and business purposes. Website content may be updated as services or operations change.

2. Service Scope

Services are provided remotely and are limited to the production or editorial work agreed for a specific project, episode, recording session, or written deliverable. The selected service does not automatically include every other service shown on the website.

Project-specific written terms, accepted quotes, invoices, or confirmations may supplement these Terms. If a project-specific document directly conflicts with these general Terms, the project-specific term controls for that project to the extent of the conflict.

3. Published Prices

The website currently lists the following standard prices: Podcast Concept Development — $150 per project; Podcast Recording Support — $100 per session; Audio Editing and Cleanup — $125 per episode; Full Podcast Episode Production — $250 per episode; Podcast Transcription — $75 per episode; Show Notes and Episode Copywriting — $85 per episode; Podcast Publishing Support — $100 per episode.

These prices assume an ordinary scope. Extremely long recordings, unusually poor source quality, a large number of source files, expedited work, additional deliverables, extensive restructuring, or work outside the described service may require a revised quote before the additional work begins.

4. Project Acceptance

Submitting a website inquiry or service request does not by itself create an obligation for Moon Umlaut to accept the project. A project becomes active when the relevant scope, price, source-material expectations, and other necessary terms have been confirmed through the applicable business process.

5. Client Materials

The client must provide complete and usable source material and must have the right to provide and use that material. This includes recordings, guest contributions, scripts, music, sound effects, trademarks, artwork, excerpts, quotations, written content, and any other third-party material supplied for production.

Moon Umlaut may decline material that appears unlawful, unauthorized, technically unusable, or outside the agreed service.

6. Creative and Technical Judgment

Audio production and editorial work involve professional judgment. Unless the client provides specific instructions, Moon Umlaut may make reasonable decisions about pacing, obvious edit points, sequencing, level consistency, transcript formatting, editorial clarity, and delivery organization.

Such decisions do not guarantee that every listener, platform, sponsor, or third party will prefer the result.

7. Revisions and Scope Changes

A revision is a reasonable change to work already completed within the original scope. A new recording, substantially different structure, changed creative direction, new episode, additional writing assignment, or request arising from incomplete original instructions may be treated as additional work.

Where additional charges are appropriate, the revised scope should be confirmed before the additional work proceeds.

8. Timelines

Any target date depends on the amount and condition of source material, timely client communication, necessary approvals, production workload, and circumstances outside reasonable control.

Client delays may move a project into a later production window. Moon Umlaut is not responsible for missed release dates caused by late source files, late approvals, platform outages, third-party review processes, or other matters outside the agreed production work.

9. Payment

Fees are payable according to the invoice, written project confirmation, or other applicable payment arrangement. Moon Umlaut may pause work or withhold final delivery while an amount that is due remains unpaid.

Third-party bank, processor, currency-conversion, or transfer fees are not included unless expressly stated.

10. Delivery and File Storage

Deliverables are generally delivered digitally. Clients are responsible for downloading, reviewing, and maintaining their own copies after delivery.

Unless a separate storage arrangement is agreed, Moon Umlaut does not promise indefinite retention of source files, working sessions, intermediate renders, or final deliverables.

11. Publishing Support

Publishing Support is an assistance service. The client remains responsible for ownership and control of the publishing account, final public-facing content, platform credentials, platform compliance, and the decision to publish.

Moon Umlaut does not guarantee platform approval, listing, ranking, recommendation, distribution, audience reach, or availability.

12. Client Review

Clients should review final audio, transcripts, show notes, names, titles, factual statements, guest information, links, and descriptions before publication. Approval or publication by the client is treated as acceptance that the client has completed its own content review.

13. Prohibited Projects

Moon Umlaut may decline or stop projects involving unlawful content, unauthorized recordings, fraudulent impersonation, malicious material, infringement concerns that cannot reasonably be resolved, or other work that creates material legal or safety risk.

14. Third-Party Services

Podcast hosts, payment providers, cloud platforms, email services, social platforms, plugins, software, and other third-party services operate independently under their own terms. Moon Umlaut does not control their uptime, algorithms, approval standards, pricing, product changes, or security.

15. Disclaimer of Results

Moon Umlaut provides production and editorial services, not guaranteed business outcomes. No service guarantees listener growth, search visibility, sponsorship, advertising revenue, platform placement, sales, media coverage, or any other commercial result.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Moon Umlaut is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss resulting from a client's publication decisions, third-party platform issues, lost audience opportunities, or client-supplied content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that applicable law does not permit to be excluded.

17. Changes

These Terms may be updated to reflect changes in services, operations, website functions, or legal requirements. The posted version applies from its stated update date unless a separate written agreement governs a particular project.
